Aids in Context at UBC’s World AIDS Day. My friends and I are part of a youth collective called AIDS in Context (or AIC). To participate in World AIDS Day (or WAD), we set up what we like to call a “movable mural” (which is essentially large, portable canvas) in a bio-medical campus building to chat and raise awareness about HIV/AIDS. The role of the mural was to provoke dialog and record response. We wrote a large prompt in the middle of the board: “WORLD AIDS DAY: WHY DO WE CARE?” And talked with people as they pondered their answer. At the end of the day, there had been talking, reflection, and a large, multicolored canvas of various opinions and perspectives :)
